This Privacy Policy explains how Reccoz ("we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, and protects your information when you use reccoz.com (the "Service"). By using Reccoz, you agree to the practices described here.

1. Information We Collect

Account information. When you sign up, we collect your name and email address, either directly (email/password signup) or through Google Sign-In, which shares your name, email, and profile picture with us.

Usage data. We store the movies you mark as favourites or already seen, and any ratings you give, so we can personalize your experience and show you your Movie DNA and My List.

Automatically collected data. We use Google Analytics to understand how visitors use Reccoz, which collects information such as pages viewed, device type, browser, approximate location, and general usage patterns. This data is aggregated and does not directly identify you.

Cookies. We use cookies for essential site functionality and analytics. You can accept or decline non-essential cookies via the banner shown on your first visit.

2. How We Use Your Information

• To create and manage your account
• To personalize movie recommendations and remember your favourites, seen list, and ratings
• To operate, maintain, and improve Reccoz
• To understand aggregate usage trends via analytics

3. Third-Party Services

Reccoz relies on the following third-party services to operate:

• Supabase — handles authentication and stores your account, favourites, and seen-list data securely.
• Google Sign-In — an optional way to create your account using your existing Google credentials.
• Google Analytics — provides aggregate, anonymized usage statistics.
• The Movie Database (TMDB) — supplies movie posters, backdrops, and metadata. This product uses the TMDB API but is not endorsed or certified by TMDB.

Each of these providers has its own privacy practices, and we encourage you to review them.

4. Data Sharing and Disclosure

We do not sell your personal information. We only share data with the third-party service providers listed above, to the extent necessary for them to perform their function, or if required by law.

5. Data Security

We use industry-standard measures, including encrypted connections and access controls provided by Supabase, to protect your information. However, no method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

6. Data Retention

We retain your account information and usage data for as long as your account remains active. If you delete your account or request deletion, we will remove your personal data within a reasonable timeframe, except where retention is required by law.

7. Your Rights and Choices

You may:

• Access or update your account information at any time
• Request deletion of your account and associated data by contacting us
• Decline non-essential cookies via the consent banner
• Log out or revoke Google Sign-In access at any time through your Google account settings

8. Children's Privacy

Reccoz is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us so we can remove it.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of Reccoz after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
